Have you been feeling angry lately?
Anger is a normal emotion that everyone experiences. It can be triggered by many different events and circumstances–frustration at work, disappointment with oneself, fear of failure–and each person has their own unique set of triggers.
When anger becomes too intense or frequent it can be difficult to manage and control. It’s important to understand the root of your anger in order to deal with it effectively.
The problem with out of control anger is that once you are consumed by it, it becomes difficult to see anything else except for your own perspective on what happened. You no longer have control over your thoughts or feelings; rather they control you. As soon as this happens, we feel like we want nothing more than to lash out and take revenge against whoever angered us in the first place–but unfortunately this will only make the situation worse.
The key to managing anger is to recognise when you are feeling frustrated or upset, and to take a step back before reacting. This can be difficult to do, especially if you are in the middle of an argument, but it is important to remember that nobody wins when anger takes over. If you can’t calm yourself down, then perhaps you need to remove yourself from the situation and take some time out. Taking a few moments of ‘silence’ can help you think rationally and regain control over your emotions–and may even prevent an argument from escalating.
The good news is that you don’t have to feel this way anymore! Our counsellors will help you explore the feelings underneath your anger so that you can find peace again. We want nothing more than for our clients to feel better about themselves and their lives again after working with us!
